Where did your interest in Corporate Finance begin?

I read Economics & Accounting at the University of Reading and so I suppose I have long had an interest in business and commerce.

After graduating in 1991, I began my career at Coopers & Lybrand Deloitte and as time moved on I worked in a number of senior corporate and leveraged finance roles, including Head of Leveraged Finance for HSBC, where the team provided funding to support MBO’s and M&A transactions. During this time, I also gained further professional qualifications, including Associate of the Chartered Securities Institute and the ICAEW Corporate Finance qualification.  Adding real value at key strategic moments in a client’s evolution has always given me a real buzz.

In 2006, I joined Lloyds Bank where I was responsible for the Bank’s corporate business across the South West & South Wales and was appointed Regional Director for Lloyds Bank Mid Markets, leading a team of relationship directors who work with more than 300 businesses across the region.

When did you join Gambit?

I have known and admired Gambit for over 20 years and was delighted to join as a Partner in 2017.  The firm has a deep commitment to working with clients and securing the best outcomes for businesses and stakeholders.  The team here are entrepreneurs and this creates real alignment with the clients we work with.

I relish working with clients and providing the funding, guidance and insight needed so that they can achieve their strategic goals.

What are you known for?

I have been fortunate enough to be recognised at a number of “Insider Deal Awards” and I believe that I am the only person to win “Corporate Banker of the Year” at two different banks. I hope that reflects the fact that I am committed to doing all I can to support businesses achieve their strategic ambitions.

I’m proud to lead Gambit’s Debt Advisory services.

What might people not know about you?

I sit on CBI Wales Council.  Outside of work, I’m married with two sons and have a passion for cycling and watching rugby.
