Gambit Celebrates 20 Years In The Business

CORPORATE finance specialist Gambit is celebrating 20 years of merger and acquisition deal making.

The Cardiff-headquartered firm, which is one of the UK’s oldest advisory boutiques, has been involved in a number of headline transactions in the UK and overseas.

Closer to home transactions have involved IQE, international acquisitions for Biotrace, the purchase and sale of Peters Foods, fundraising and strategic advice for Bluestone, the management buy-out and sale of Celtic Inns and the sale of Cardiff City Football Club. Gambit also advises fast-growing companies including Afonwen, Wheelies, Chromogenex, Red Commerce and Moorhouse Group.

As enthusiastic sponsors of Welsh contemporary art, Gambit will tomorrow host a private view of the pre-work for a portrait of the Queen by Cardiff born artist, Dan Llewelyn Hall – which has been commissioned by the WRU and will be unveiled later this week.

Gambit founding senior partner Frank Holmes said: “This event is a thank you to our fantastic team, former colleagues, valued clients, the financial community, universities and friends in government whose continued support and involvement has enabled the firm to share many successes from iconic projects.”

The firm’s managing partner Geraint Rowe said: “We are expanding our offering through Gambit offices in Birmingham, London and engaging our overseas partners in Corporate Finance International.

“The firm’s future is vested in global reach, sector focus, partner-led services and investment in research capability to ensure we remain a serious player in the UK market and in international M&A transactions.”

Mr Holmes said: “Despite the difficult global economic conditions we are all enduring, our current pipeline is very buoyant but we are mindful that execution risk remains high.

“I am as excited about Gambit today as I was at the beginning of this fascinating journey.”
