Frank is an Honours graduate, Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants. Frank was awarded ‘Best Chartered Accountant in Practice’ by ICAEW in 2008 and in 2019 he received the ‘Outstanding Contribution to Finance in Wales’ at the Finance Awards Wales. He is the first triple winner of Welsh Dealmaker of the Year, and in 2023, he was also awarded an Honorary Fellowship from Cardiff Metropolitan University for his contribution to Finance.
Frank’s professional career began with Deloitte in 1988, and in 1990 he embarked on a career in industry culminating in the MBO of Curran Engineering from Aerospace Engineering Plc, funded by private equity from 3i plc. As a fluent Spanish speaker, Frank was retained by Banco Ambrosiano’s liquidators for 15 years tasked with recovering funds in South America and Europe from private banks and individuals, government officials and members of a secret international masonic organisation.
Since becoming a founder partner in Gambit, establishing the UK’s oldest independent corporate finance boutique, specialising in advisory services and investment, Frank has led a number of significant transactions in the UK and internationally, including Wales largest Management Buy Out of £110 million, Wales’s largest greenfield start up with funding packages totalling over £220 million for a new generation holiday village, and the 2025 sale of a world leading consumer brand Nodor International, for a multiple nine figure sum.
Frank has extensive experience across a number of industry sectors and has raised in excess of £2.3 billion of finance for clients; including industrial, leisure, energy and environment, life sciences, food and consumer goods, involving over 220 UK and international transactions with private and listed companies.
He has held a number of non-executive directorships and Trusteeships with established companies, a University, private and state schools and Cerebral Palsy Cymru a charity. Frank is also First Chair of Cardiff Capital Region: Economic Growth Partnership and Investment Panel overseeing a £4.5 billion City Deal Economic programme and current chair of the Region’s CJC Investment Board. In 2021, he founded Manufacturing Wales a network of leading companies spanning numerous sectors from F&B to semi conductors.
A Patron and Entrepreneur Fellow of the King’s Trust, Frank is a keen collector of Welsh contemporary art, enjoys travel and writing.
